Travelers who want to make an unforgettable vacation this spring should pay attention to Florence. This is by far one of the most beautiful places on Earth that is known not only for its mild climate, but for historical treasures it keeps. This is an ideal place for long walks where any corner and any piazza are real masterpieces of Renaissance period. Located in Italy near Rome and Naples, Florence is known as a beloved place of rest of celebrities, members of royal families and thousands of tourists. Certainly, Florence is good for visiting all year long, but spring is a period when various activities are held, so it’s considered the best time to visit this town of elegance and beauty.

Florence has everything to enjoy and amaze you. This place is also famous for its museums that keep stunning collections or art, jewelry and other masterpieces worth to be exhibited in best world’s museums.

Galleria degli Uffizi. This gallery is so huge that it’s really hard to walk it all at one time. Specialists name it as the best Renaissance art collection in the world. Da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo, Caravaggio, Titian – this is by far incomplete list of famous artists you can find here. Hundreds of famous paintings including world known ones like Birth of Venus by Botticelli can be found in Uffizi.

Museo Nazionale del Bargello. This museum shows art related to Late Gothic – Early Renaissance periods. Famous David by Donatello is exhibited here.

Galleria dell’Accademia. If Donatello’s David is less known even though it’s older, Michelangelo’s version of this sculpture seems is known to everyone. You just cannot miss to watch it by your own eyes while staying in Florence. This museum is always crowded by tourists who exceptionally gather around David. If you like you, you can buy a giant poster of it in nearby shop. In addition to famous work by Michelangelo Galleria dell’Accademia offers a wonderful collection of valuable musical instruments like Stradivarius violins.

These are the largest and most popular museums in Florence, but that doesn’t mean these are all places of interest in the city that is like a masterpiece itself. Spring is a wonderful time, so why not to wander in the city to see the following places.

The Duomo in Florence. The Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore is one of symbols of Florence. Its majestic dome (duomo in Italian) is a must visit place for every tourist. The basilica was rebuilt several times during its history to get that unique look loved by so many tourists. It was designed and built in 1294 by architect di Cambio. Then it was just a church with standard gothic plain design. Later, in 1418, Italian architect Brunelleschi created famous self-supporting dome. It took him almost 20 years to build it. Since that time this monument has stand untouched for more than 400 years. Certainly, time slowly destroyed Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore and its façade was covered with cracks. In 1886 it was decided to renew the basilica and for this purpose wonderful marble facade was designed and created.

The cloister of San Lorenzo hides another architecture treasure – Laurentian Library. It has been designed by famous Michelangelo and now considered one of best buildings of Renaissance period in the world. Library itself collects ultimate collection of books and manuscripts made both in ancient times and during Renaissance era. Some of them are very precious and rare.

San Lorenzo Florence Church is just another example of architectural masterpiece that is worth visiting during your Florence vacation. It has been originally designed by Brunelleschi in 4th century what makes this church one of the oldest in whole Florence. Renaissance gloss was added by Bronzino, Lippi and Donatello who decorated walls of this church.
